Baegyangsa Temple Ssanggyeru Pavilion and Baekhakbong Peak, Jangseong Baegyangsa Temple in Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do is the head temple of the 18th Parish of the Korean Buddhist Jogye Order. Aside from its long history, the temple is known for the pristine natural scenery surrounding the compound of classical halls and pavilions. In particular, the Daeungjeon Hall and the rock walls and plants around Baekhakbong Peak at the back have earned the temple its reputation as one of the eight greatest sceneries in all of Korea. Baegamsan Mountain, where the temple is nestled, is especially famous for its breathtaking maples in autumn. The mountain is a natural reserve featuring some 1,500 species of flora and fauna, including the Forest of Japanese Torreyas at Baegyangsa Temple, designated as Natural Monument No. 153. Myeongjae Historic House, Nonsan

Myeongjae Historic House, Nonsan, Korea This house was built by Yun Jeung (1629~1714), a scholar during the reign of King Sukjong of the Joseon Dynasty. Some repairs seem to have been done later, so detailed techniques of this house show the architectural style of the mid-19th century. This house is situated facing south, side by side with Noseonghyanggyo Confucian School, at the foot of the mountain where Noseogsanseong Fortress is located. The house has the sarangchae (men’s quarters) -- measuring 4 kan (a unit of measurement referring to the distance between two columns) at the front and 2 kan at the sides -- on a high foundation. It also houses the middle gate quarters on the back left side. A middle gate was built to block the view of the anchae (women’s quarters). When passing through the middle gate, one sees the square bracket-shaped anchae in the front, forming the “□”-shaped layout along with the middle gate quarters. Jeonjuhyanggyo Confucian School 전주향교 全州鄕校 in hyanggyo-gil 139, Jeonju-si, Jeollabuk-do, South Korea. Jeonjuhyanggyo is estimated to have been built in the 3rd year of King Gongmin of Goryeo (1354 A.D.). It was originally located in Pungnam-dong (north of Gyeonggijeon Shrine), and relocated to the current location, which is the east of Jeonju-bu Castle in 1603 (Seonjo 36). The relocation was made as they believed the original location contradicted the traditional customs that enjoined the placement of the Confucian shrine on the left and Sajikdan altar on the right, facing south from the office building. The structure of Jeonjuhyanggyo is based on 'shrine in the front and lecture hall in the back'style that it has the altar in the front. Confucious and the Four Saints are enshrined in the center of Daeseongjeon, and the Ten Wise Confucius' Disciples and the Six Sages of Song Dynasty are placed on the left and right side, respectively.
