The Location： 577, Eupnae-ri Gyodong-myeon, Ganghwa-gun

This fortress is a country castle built with rocks in 1629( the 7th year of the King, In-jo in Joseon Dynasty) when the King built a naval base in Gyeonggi. The perimeter was 430 meters and (he heighl was 6 meters. It has three gates, and each gate has Mun-ru.

They called the east gale Dongsam-ru, the south gale Yuryang-ru, and me norrth gate Gongbuk-ru. In 1753 an officer, Baek Dong-won furnished lhe castle and ils equipments. In 1884 an office, Baek Nak-ryun restored the south gate. It is unclear when the east and the north gales were destroyed. The south gate, Yuryangru was destroyed in 1921 due to a heavv storm and now only the rainbow shaped Hongye-mun is left inlactly.

교동읍성은 조선 인조 7년（1629》, 교동에 경기수영（系銳 水營）을 실시할 매 돌로 쌓은 읍성이다. 둘레 430m, 높이 6m 규오로 세 개의 문을 내고 문루를 새웠는데 동문은 통상후，남문을 유량루，북문은 공북루라 하였다. 영조 29넌（1753）여장을 고쳐 쌓았고，고종 21년（1884）에는 남문을 다시 고쳤다. 동문과 북문이 언제 없어졌는지 알 수 없으며，남문은 1921년 폭풍우로 무너져 홍예문만 남아 있다.
